BOARD CARE GUIDE

Your Sonora Orange custom wood cutting board was designed to be treasured for years and loved so dearly, everyone will fight to inherit it. But you’ll need to do a little work in the meantime to maintain its beauty and (nearly) effortless style.

Best practices for a long-lasting cutting board:

  • Keep your board away from the pool during parties, and out of the dishwasher, puddles, and dunk tanks. Submerging your cutting board in water could cause it to warp and/or crack.

  • It’s best to hand wash your cutting board under hot running water and scrub it with a soapy sponge or cloth. Take care to wash both sides of the board (even if you only used one side) to ensure even drying and prevent warp. Wipe dry with a towel immediately after washing, and then prop it upright until completely dry.

  • Your cutting board is delivered ready to use as soon as you unbox it, there’s no need to condition it at first, but be prepared to regularly apply a combination of quality, food-safe mineral oil and beeswax to the board when you want to restore its natural glow.

  • Condition your board monthly, but you won’t hurt it by conditioning it as often as you need. You’ll know your board needs to be oiled when water disperses or absorbs into the surface. A well-oiled board will cause water to bead up and roll away easily.

  • Keeping your board conditioned will help it be stain and water-repellant, but if you want to sanitize your cutting board, simply spray with a 1:1 ratio of white vinegar and water and let it sit for at least one hour before rinsing. Alternatively, sprinkle the entire surface with salt and leave overnight to absorb excess moisture.
